Historic Poor Farm Kitchen

The Historic Poor Farm (HPF) Kitchen will support one of the farm’s main priority areas: local food production. At the HPF Kitchen, individuals can create the food they wish to see in the community. When entrepreneurs have access to tools and resources to expand their food production, more food can be grown, cooked, and eaten in Johnson County.

How does renting the kitchen work?
It all starts with an application! County staff will consider multiple factors when reviewing applications, including the kitchen hours available, the overall capacity of the kitchen infrastructure, and general business readiness.
Once their application is accepted, users will then be onboarded by County staff. This includes an orientation session to get acquainted with expectations such as kitchen building and equipment use, cleaning requirements, and other considerations for the shared-use space.
Depending on local and state requirements, userswill then provide any necessary licensure and/orfood safety certificates. From there, users are able to schedule time in the kitchen via our scheduling software, Brightly.
